Performance Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:
apply and monitor strata management plans on at least two occasions, including:identifying factors affecting stability of mining structures, including:roadway sizepillar sizedepth of coverstrength of coal and underlying and overlying stratastress regimesstrata characteristicslongwall roof supportspresence of water systems of miningbreaker line supportsdirection of miningsequence of pillar extractionprimary and secondary supportsgeological structuresspeed and continuity of extractionapplying strata monitoring devices, including:convergence indicatorstelltales.During the above, the candidate must:locate and apply relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures and confirm work activity is compliantimplement the requirements, procedures and techniques for applying and monitoring strata management plans, including:reading, interpreting, communicating and applying technical informationaccessing and interpreting data from monitoring systems and equipmentaccessing and analysing historical strata management information related to the mine and failure mode of mine structuresinterpreting and applying design criteria for strata managementconducting enquiries/investigations and preparing audit reportswork effectively with others to apply and monitor strata management plans that meet the required outcomes, including:organising work activities to meet all task requirementscommunicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructionscomplying with reporting requirements and proceduresdetermining coordination requirements throughout work activities.
